Before The AC Doctors had a name, we were just a few guys trying to do honest work.
One day, we took on what should’ve been a simple, summertime duct sealing job for a family right here in Central Mississippi. We thoroughly sealed (while we thoroughly sweated in the 130 degree attic) the ductwork solving the contracted problem. But when we tested out the system, it was blowing hotter air than the day before. The airflow was better; it was fantastic. But instead of cold air, we didn’t have any. The frustration hit us and the customer hard. We didn’t know what was wrong.
When we asked for help from a fellow air conditioning contractor, and returned to diagnose the issue, we realized the truth:
We didn’t realize the outside compressor had died, sometime. We didn’t even touch the ac system equipment. We didn’t even run it while working. We just sealed the ductwork: two guys, two buckets of mastic, two brushes, and two pounds of sweat! We hadn’t looked closely enough. We hadn’t tested.
We’d assumed—and we were wrong.
It wasn’t just a mistake. It was a moment of conviction.
That job became a line in the sand for us. It exposed the very thing that so many homeowners experience: techs who mean well but miss the bigger picture because they’re rushing, guessing, or doing what “usually works.” And, up until this point, duct sealing worked, like miraculously worked.
We knew we had to be different. We had to know the equipment side of things. We had to know the system. That was the day we stopped doing just a part of the air conditioning system surface-level service—and started building something deeper. We needed to know more than building science and duct sealing. We needed to master the equipment side of the solution.
That means no rushing to prescribe.
No treating symptoms without understanding the cause.
Just honest evaluation, clear communication, and solutions that hold up.
We dug into engineering principles.
We got certified in equipment sizing and studied airflow analysis and system design. We got licensed in commercial and residential mechanical work (air conditioning and plumbing). Jerold started putting all of his mechanical engineering studies to work.
We invested in tools that measure—not guess.
And we rebuilt our process to slow down, test everything, and get it right the first time.
But it wasn’t just about doing better work—it was about becoming better people.
As Proverbs 11:3 says, “The integrity of the upright will guide them.”
That verse isn’t just a belief—it’s our blueprint. It’s why we back our work with a one-year guarantee.
It’s why we answer the phone like you’re family.
And it’s why we show up every day with a clear purpose: To restore comfort with care, and to serve Brandon, MS and the Metro Jackson Area the way we’d want to be served.
Jerold enjoys family time, Ole Miss football, woodworking, golf, and speaker building and competitive chess. He is a member and deacon of First Baptist Jackson. Also Pictured: Doreen is a member and has been a Registered Pharmacist for WalMart for over 30 years. Brenna Li (daughter) is a Process and Controls Engineer for Exxon Mobile in TX. In this picture, she received the MS Engineering Student of the Year, representing Ole Miss.
